Grandma is in town visiting this weekend. After Jackson's soccer game this morning, we drove out to a pumpkin patch. It was a beautiful day to be outside...much warmer than our pumpkin patch visit last year!

Trip to Mobile

Jackson, Kate, and I went to Mobile last week to introduce Kate to my family. Erik had to work, so I ventured down by myself with the two kids. They were both so good in the car, and it was much easier than I expected! Unfortunately, my great aunt passed away so most of my family left to go to Dallas for the funeral while I was there. I cut our trip a little shorter than I was planning, but we did get to see most of the family while we were there.

Sleep and Smiles

Kate has been sleeping through the night! 8 hours the last 3 nights :) Nice. Let's hope this continues! She also started smiling last week! I will post pictures of her smiles when I catch a few on camera.

5 Weeks Old

Baby Kate is now 5 weeks old (as of this past Wednesday)! She is a sweet baby, and we are excited to see her personality come out in the weeks to come. We've seen her smile many times in her sleep, but we can't wait to see some real and on-purpose ones! She is getting chubby and is a great eater (YAY!!). She has also been a pretty good sleeper. She usually wakes up once a night to eat and goes right back to sleep. Actually, we usually have to wake her up to eat! A couple of nights ago, we fed her around 11:30 p.m. and not again until about 5:30 a.m.! Let's hope this good sleeping continues! (I'm knocking on wood about everything I just wrote.) 1 Month

There's No Sharing in Soccer!

Jackson had his first soccer game today! It was about like what you would expect of a bunch of three-year-olds playing soccer....some hanging out inside the goal, some picking their noses, some clinging to their parents, some kicking the ball in the wrong goal (hmmm...Jackson)...but it was a lot of fun to watch, and the kids had a lot of fun too! There was a really good kid on the other team who pretty much dominated the game (in other words, he was a HUGE ball hog and even took the ball away from his own teammates). Jackson was too nice and didn't want to take the ball away from other kids, so we had to give him a pep talk and tell him, "There's no sharing in soccer!" Here are some action shots from the game:

Weight Checks, Weight Checks, Weight Checks!

Kate had to go to the doctor this week for a weight check and since Jackson was due for one too, I took them both in yesterday. Kate is now 3 weeks old and Jackson is 3 1/2 years old.

After dropping to 6 pounds 3 ounces, Kate has finally made it back up to and beyond her birth weight of 7 pounds 2 ounces! She now weighs 7 pounds 3 ounces. Yesterday was her fourth visit to the pediatrician since she was born, but now she won't need to go back until her 2-month check-up as long as everything else is going well with her.

Jackson has gained about a pound since his 3-year check-up in March. He now weighs a grand total of 26 1/2 pounds and is just over 3 feet tall! We're not worried about him though. He eats when and what he wants, just not a lot of anything. He has plenty of energy and is doing great, so I guess that's just the way he is! He is still gaining and following his own curve (around the first percentile), so the doctor isn't concerned. He'll go back for another check-up when he's four.

I went to check on Jackson last night and this is how I found him! (That is his winter hat from 2 years ago by his face...he has been wanting to wear that to bed lately for some reason!)
