Spring is Coming!

Thanks to the BEAUTIFUL weather last weekend, we were able to enjoy a Sunday afternoon at the park. We took Tug to the dog park, and then we walked around and caught the end of a high school baseball game. Jackson got to try out his new tricycle and go down a few slides!

We had a great time at Jackson's second birthday party! Thank you to everyone who came! Jackson had 5 little friends there to celebrate his birthday with him and several "big" friends. He was a little shy at first and didn't know about all these other kids playing with all his stuff, but he warmed up after a while and had a lot of fun!

Happy Birthday, Jackson!

Jackson got one of his birthday presents tonight, and he will get the rest at his party this weekend. The T-ball set was a hit, and he definitely has room to grow with this gift!

Terrific TWO!

I can't believe my baby is two!! He is such a little boy now. Here are a few things he's been doing lately:

Loves to sing! He sings his ABC's, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Twinkle Twinkle, Itsy Bitsy Spider (with motions), a bumble bee song (not sure of the name), and more!
Just learned the word "mine" (uh-oh)....must have picked this one up at school.
Practices jumping all the time! He loves to jump around the room, up the stairs, down the stairs, etc.
Starting to throw temper tantrums (another uh-oh...the "two's" are here!)
Talks like crazy! It's amazing the words he picks up and remembers. (For example, calculator, stethoscope, and smoke detector are now in his vocabulary!)
Very independent...he wants to dress himself, wash his hands, wipe his own face, etc.
Loves to help around the house (I hope this lasts!) He's obsessed with vacuum cleaners, and he walks around the house sweeping and mopping. (So much for all those expensive toys!)

Can count to ten, say shapes and colors, and spell his name (sort of)!

Jackson did not have to go to school on his birthday, and I get to stay home with him all day! Due to the snow we had yesterday, the schools decided to close today (even though it's sunny, the snow is melting, and the roads are dry). His two-year check-up was supposed to be Thursday, but since I am staying home today, I called to see if they had any cancellations. They did, so we took care of his check-up today. The doctor said he's doing great, and he even gained a little weight! He is now 21 pounds, 9.6 ounces and almost 32 inches tall (3-5 %). His weight is still off the charts (we weren't expecting otherwise), but he is getting close to getting back on the curve. (He would have needed to be 23 pounds today to be on the lowest curve.)

Oh, and all those cupcakes will just have to wait! Hopefully, they will still be good and Jackson can have his school birthday party tomorrow!

Snow Day!

Jackson loved watching the snow through the window! It started snowing right before his nap. So, I lifted his blinds and he fell asleep watching the snow fall. When he woke up, everything was white! We went outside to play in the snow for a few minutes. We didn't stay out too long because it was the wet, slushy kind of snow that isn't that fun to play in! This isn't Jackson's first snow experience (click here for Snow Day 2008), but he was definitely more into it this year!

Jackson got baptized Saturday night (February 7th). Mimi, Pop, Uncle Scott, Aunt Jamie, Uncle Brian, Mckenzie, and Annika were all able to make it to Atlanta for the event. The weather was gorgeous here this past weekend, and we all had a great time!

Woo Hoo!!

After weighing the same (19 pounds, 12 ounces) in October and December, Jackson has finally gained some weight! He now weighs 21 pounds, 3 ounces! He finally broke 20 pounds!! (That has been our goal for about the last year. ) At the GI doctor appointment in December, we decided to increase the dosage of his appetite stimulant medicine, and I guess it worked! He has been eating much better since then. Keep praying that he keeps it up!

Bumbo!

We got out Jackson's old Bumbo chair to loan it to Leslie for her new baby boy. Although Jackson was not a big fan of the Bumbo when he was a baby, he has now decided that it's a fun place to sit! Lucky for him, Leslie has two other Bumbo seats that were loaned to her, so she doesn't need ours. Jackson loves to sit in it and make Erik pick him up and swing him back and forth. Then he gets up, points to the chair, and says, "Mommy do it!" He orders me to sit on (since I don't fit "in") the chair and orders Daddy to pick me up and swing me in the chair. He doesn't quite understand that I'm just a little too big for that!
